I'm shocked how my kids are really into my music. At first my kids started listening to a lot of classic rock, then they wanted to read about them and suddenly I got nervous. There's a lot of sex, drugs and rock & roll in the history of these bands and I don't want my 15 year old thinking that if he does drugs he'll be a rock star. I know that's a big jump, but I don't want to glorify it, or ignore it ever happened.I've found a series of books that really covers the subject nicely. I bought the Pink Floyd title and the "Kiss: I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night" and they are equally great. I read both books before I gave them to my kids to read.First off, even if you are fan of the bands you will find out cool information or remember things you forgot about them. Secondly they don't skirt the serious stuff. I thought they would ignore Syd Barrett in the Floyd title, but they jump right into it and give him a lot of coverage in the book. They go into detail about all of the band members and discuss pivotal moments in their careers and lives.They don't ignore stuff, but don't glorify things either. It gives you a realistic impression of the band and their legacy. It got me back into Floyd again, which makes me cool because my 15 year old listens to it! My father couldn't say that.
